Future-Fluent: Examining the Power of Literacy, Language, and Equity in a Tech-Driven Era with Artificial Intelligence

Join us for an immersive AI discovery session exploring the future of literacy and language fluency with a focus on technology skills. This session examines how to leverage artificial intelligence to equip educators and students with adaptable skills for an increasingly changing digital world, while fostering strategies for equitable learning environments. Through interactive discussions, activities, and multimedia exploration, we will look at strategies for best practices for integrating AI-enabled (Generative and Non-generative) tools to enhance instruction, learning, engagement, and empowerment. We will collaboratively examine bias and how it affects Artificial Intelligence models while also looking at ethical considerations for AI and gaining strategies for promoting equity. By the end, participants will have a deeper understanding of digital literacy, digital fluency, acute language skills, and how to foster a higher technology acumen.

Problem-Based Learning and Design Thinking:

promoting the Four Cs to develop sustainable solutions to real problems

Utilizing a series of design and thinking protocols participants will utilize this design-thinking process within a definable thematic area to develop a real tangible solution to an existing school/culture challenge . The key elements for this session are the emphasis on learning through the process, not the outcome. Identifying reasons why true civic engagement, cultural and community context, and learner empowerment are essential in all our learning environments. This highly interactive session will also support adaptations of the protocols to any curricular area and expands to additional focal areas such as Equity, Social-Emotional Learning, and many others.

Culturally Responsive Environments:

strategies for ensuring inclusive and culturally affirming learning environments

One of the most significant indicators of a learners success that cannot be measured numerically is the culture of the environments they are learning in. The goal should be to ensure that every learner is seen, heard, and affirmed in who they are and aligned with their cultural identity. This session will support teachers and school leaders in developing sustainable mechanisms for examining habits of mind and cultural norms while examining areas of need growth as well. We will also take a deep analytical look at how our use of technology must go beyond simplistic uses and evolve to serve as a catalyst for learner empowerment in making and building meaningful cross-cultural connections.
