Make Mathematical and Scientific Thinking Visible
Math and Science are not just subjects; they are ways of thinking, understanding, and making meaning of our world. This workshop will bring out the beauty of math and science and how to develop the skills that are essential in critical thinking. Together, we will engage in activities that make both math and science come to life and help students become confident and curious learners. We will explore principles and practices of mathematical and scientific thinking and how they work to enhance student engagement, understanding and achievement, as well as how Microsoft Flip and various cross-platform technology solutions can be used to make math and science more accessible, meaningful and enjoyable for learners. Participants will create a lesson plan document or short video with a strategy for incorporating principles for making thinking visible during each phase of the lesson and how you as the educator can use learners’ thinking to guide instruction and feedback.
Empower Every Voice in Classrooms and Beyond with Flip!
Your voice can change the world, and so can your scholars. Let’s FLIP learning inside out! This high-energy workshop’s main goal is to infuse opportunities to promote student voice in the classroom and beyond. As educators, YOU bring the magic and show learners we value who they are and understand the complexities of their lives beyond the classrooms, which allows them to feel welcomed, supported and loved. We will focus on ways to elevate student voice through culture, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, support, reflection and feedback with Microsoft Flip and explore ways to implement their ideas into every aspect of school! Every educator will leave with a certificate of completion and become Flip Certified Educator, Level 1. Participants will also create a collection of ready-to-launch topics based on a subject of interest.

As the world continues to change rapidly so will demands and challenges. We know EDUCATION is the key to prepare our learners. How can educators successfully leverage the power of global connections to enhance teaching and learning experiences? In this workshop, you will be immersed in learning strategies and creating experiences that will lead to students having a global perspective, developing cultural awareness and empathy and bringing authenticity and joy to their learning experiences. We will discuss the benefits and challenges of connecting with other educators and students around the world, as well as the tools and resources that can help you get started. You will also have the opportunity to network with other participants and explore potential partnerships for future global projects. Join me for this interactive and inspiring workshop and become a connected educator leading connected classrooms! Participants will create a global experience based on interdisciplinary lessons, digital citizenship, digital literacy, or Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
